This project aims to put intelligent sensorised additive manufacturing at the service of people and animals with pathologies that make mobility difficult for them, i.e. to create personalised intelligent devices that can actively contribute to the treatment and rehabilitation of users, collect relevant information, process it in a "cloud" system and use it in decision-making, while also helping in the treatment.
Additive manufacturing, combined with three-dimensional scanning techniques, allows the design of devices adapted to the specific needs of each user in terms of morphology, level of mobility, stage of the recovery process in which they are, level of physical activity, etc. In addition, additive manufacturing is characterised by the speed with which design modifications can be introduced and by the relatively low cost compared to other production methods. All this makes this technology an ideal tool for the development of devices, orthoses and prostheses designed ad-hoc for each user according to their own characteristics and the type of ailment.
